Your donuts make me go nuts

So tomorrow I am continuing a tradition. Tomorrow I will

Get up early
Lace up my sneakers
Drive downtown to my alma mater (Go Pack!)
Run 2.5 miles with 7200 people in costumes, grocery carts and God knows what
Eat donuts
Then run 2.5 miles back

Yup. You read that right. And guess what? I’m not the crazy one. The crazy ones that will eat the whole dozen and run all in under an hour (::cough:: Laura Case ::cough::).

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Krispy Kreme Challenge.

I have done this for 3 years (last year I bailed due to weather). I did it pregnant with Landon and I will do it pregnant again. Like a mother effin boss.

I have never puked or been grossed out. It is an experience because anything goes. Strollers, dogs, gorilla suits, you name it.

This race started with a handful of friends on a dare years ago and now sells out months in advance with a cap of 7200 this year. They have multiple Krispy Kremes in the state cooking for the race. Oh and the best part is all the proceeds go to the Duke Children’s Hospital. So yeah awesome!

So who is coming next year?

Good luck and have fun tomorrow! I haven’t done this in a few years – maybe time to get back up there and eat some donuts! Last time I ran it there was a “dick in a donut box” guy!

I have eaten 4. It really didn’t bother me. I get hungry mid run anyway 🙂

I’ll make the call on next year depending on how many times I puke this year.

Now those are some guilt-free donuts. Eat an extra one for me.

The only part that grosses me out is dodging the puke on the way back. I have done the race twice (2009 and 2010) and wasn’t quite ready to get back in the game this year. My highest donut count was 6. I bow down to Laura and her ability to eat the dozen.

i have seen very few piles but I was a lot faster. Beat most of the people still eating. Tomorrow will be the test.
