Todder Dinners: Family Dining Part 2

This week is by request on Toddler Dinners by a few folks.  Many people have asked about what Landon’s dinner looks like next to ours.  Are we really not short order cooks? What happens when we have something that Landon doesn’t like or is too spicy or something like that? Well I documented all last week with a shot of Landon’s dinner and my dinner together. In all cases, Kevin’s dinner is the same as mine. So let’s take a look at a few and discuss:

First up we have steak.  I got the Carne Asda steak at Trader Joes to try and holy crap we will be buying this again. First off it made a ton.  We had steak for 3 nights for all of us. It cooked super quick on the grill and everyone loved it. Deal of the week in my eyes. Here are 2 nights of steak combos.  Only difference with Landon’s is I served the ingredients seperately.  This was because if he didn’t like the steak, the salad wasn’t shot. He also didn’t have blue cheese but I did ask him to try before making dinner and he said he didn’t like.  Fair enough.

Now for the dinner out option.  I have talked about this before in our dining out posts and you may see a trend week to week but we often have Greek once a week.  We have a local little place (Shish Kabob) to us with fresh food for a great price. Family owned and they just rock. We get a large platter and split it for about $15.  There is usually leftover chicken for other meals too! This is great for a fetus who loves Greek food.

Lastly we have our quick grill option. We grill a lot.  Talked about that here actually. So Friday night Kevin needed to power wash the fence and deck for our open house…so I had to watch a kid outside and cook. Helllllo grill.  Chicken and corn on the grill with sweet potatoes in the toaster oven inside. This was Landon’s first corn on the cob experience and it went over well. Good…because I LOVE grilled corn.

So how do you incorporate toddler dinners into your own? I can say it hasn’t always been like this but once his palette expands, it is so much easier.

Toddler Dinners is my weekly series of posts to explore the world of feeding munchkins. Each Monday I will post our previous week’s meals and a rating on how they went as well as discuss numerous issues we all face. I love this!
Love love love this. We still do modified versions of meals for the kids so our plates rarely 100% match theirs.

I’m so glad the corn was a hit! I love corn. Not grilled, though. I have a thing about burned bits of food entering my mouth. Horkoriffic.

I love that you don’t make a special meal for your toddler. We don’t either and if they don’t like what they have on their plate they go without. Tough love has taught them to eat more variety!
