A Running Pep Talk

Support supportive family

I recently joined the NCRC running club here in Raleigh.  I am also volunteering with the Beginner Women’s Running Group.  Once a week, I go out in the blistering heat and help ladies learn to run.  We are talking 95 degrees.  I thought to myself, if they can show up to try to learn, I can suck it up and help.  Running comes easily to me.  I realize this…so I should motivate others who don’t have it as easy. I am so happy to see Sarah, Regan, Lauren and Cara each week. Also?  Ice pops when we finish!

I wrote about my cousin Sarah before.  Worlds best running cheerleader EVER.  She recently did a blog post highlighting the fact than in less than 10 months, she trained from nothing to a half marathon and now the questions she gets asked on the flip side. I couldn’t put it better myself. Fit is the new skinny, people. Who cares what size your jeans are as long as you are feeling AWESOME.  The energy I have is awesome and I run after a toddler!  I love my body because I am fit.  Screw the stretch marks and fupa.  I have TONS of energy.  I love to workout.  Hell right now my goal is to do 100 push ups at once.  I have met so many new friends from running (Dawn, Laura, Evelyn). So when that alarm goes off at 5:15 and it is dark as hell…I just need to remember these things. I will feel 100% better once I get up and go.

So what I am trying to say is, YOU CAN TOTALLY DO IT.  Check out her post and show her some love.  If you are interested in learning to run, let me know and I can see what programs are in the works.

I remember…

Thanks for the shout out,B! Thanks, too, for volunteering and for always being so encouraging! Learning to run is a lot easier when you’ve got the support of amazing family and friends.
