Zoo Adventure!
Monday was Columbus Day and accordingly, daycare was closed. We decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and take the day off and head to the NC Zoo. Landon loves animals and it is a pretty easy drive. It was a lovely 71 degrees and overcast. This was a) great for us and b) all the animals were out! Also not being a school holiday, it was not crowded at all. We got there in about 1.5 hours and got a front parking space at 9:30. We just did the Africa part of the zoo to limit the exposure for tantrums and save some for another day. Landon did great with the stroller and even 2 awful diaper changes mid walk. Well I will stop rambling and just show you pictures…
Short story here: the NC Zoo has their first baby chimp in more than a dozen years. Meet Nori. Watching her was amazing. The adults played with her just like a human. Tickling her. She even walked backwards to sit in one’s lap. Then she started to examine the seal in the glass and blowing on the glass…just like Landon above. I want to go back again.
All photos were taken with a D40 and a AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED from Nikon
the lion was awake!!! that’s awesome; the majority of the time we go he is asleep 🙂 awesome shots; as usual 😉
First off- fun!
Secondly- I have been several times & never gotten even close to those good of photos, even though the actual opportunities were there. Damn point & shoot & no photographic talent.
Third- I believe that feisty comment about the lion! When we were there last he was prowling the back fence and peeing & actually ROARING into the chimp compound!
Last- didn’t know about the baby chimp, now I want to go even more; hopefully next weekend!
Landon is so cute! I love the picture of you and him. This is one of those things on my list for “Someday with Noah,” and your post made me excited about it!
I was amazed at how swimmingly the day went. I think we all needed it. 🙂
You got some amazing shots! I haven’t been to the zoo in a few years and keep meaning to take my oldest son. Great idea to go in October. Perfect weather for it.
Thanks! It was a great time!
