Charleston
So this past weekend we traveled down to Charleston to accomplish a few things. Friday night we got down and hung out on Daniel’s Island with my friend/ex-coworker Anissa. She jumped the SAS ship over a year ago and went down to this utopia of a place. We met her husband and 6 year old at a local pirate park to blow off steam after a 5 hour car ride(which my kid TOTALLY rocked…never once whining or complaining). We finished off the night with a lovely dinner at Sermet’s Courtyard. It was great to catch up and the boys both sat quietly for 2 HOURS!!!! It was magical. We then went to stay with our cousins in Mt. Pleasant. THey have a grandson who is pretty much Landon so they had every toy you could ever want. He was on cloud 9 and didn’t get to bed until 8:45…then slept until 8. WIN!
Saturday morning, it was running time. I had originally signed up for the half marathon back before I knew I was pregnant. Once I realized I couldn’t keep up the training, I dropped back to the 5K. To keep me company, my awesome cousin Sarah and Anissa joined me. First off, IT WAS FUCKING COLD! The wind blew non-stop. Fortuneately, we found a super close parking spot and sat in the car until the start. The good news is that place is flat as hell and it was the easiest 5K I have ever done. I need to go back next year so I can rock that PR. I mean I ran a 10 min/mile and never got winded…so that was pretty awesome. Also Sarah got her PR down by 3 minutes! AWESOME!!! We then headed back to visit with family and stuff our faces around town. Saturday night Landon got to see his first mariachi band. It was epic.
Sunday we got to visit a park under the Cooper River Bridge. It was a huge hit and wore him slam out. I happened to get some awesome shots of him to end our great weekend. He then slept 3 of the 4 hour car ride. Thanks exhaustion!
he’s handsome. And I’m all for any exhaustion that makes G passout on long car rides. Even vodka. Kidding kidding. Only playing.
Go you rockin’ the 5k.
True fact: The highest point in Charleston is only 9 feet above sea level. I used to live there (it’s my FAVORITE) and when I took up jogging I was like “jeeze, this is so EASY! Why didn’t I do this before?!”
That can’t be counting the bridges. Those things are CRAZY tall!
What a handsome and happy little guy! I hope you rewarded the kids for sitting quietly for a full two hours – that right there is an amazing feat!
All the best 🙂
