Parenting Woes: Extracurricular Activities
Today I am over at Liberating Working Moms talking about something that seems to plague all parents…extracurricular activities. I have never seen one issue get so many reactions than that of what we enroll our children in. How much is too much? How much is not enough? Sports? Academic? The questions never end. We either feel guilt for letting them miss out on something or spend a lot of our cycles driving them around town all week. What is your family’s take on all this extra stuff?

“I would like to say this is only my friends with older children but it is already starting with age 3. I was recently in a little support group for working moms at my work and this came up. EVERY mom at the table had something to say. Soccer, band, music, tae kwon do, ballet, on and on and on. High schoolers, elementary age and preschoolers. My daughter does ballet once a week and then in the spring, she can play soccer if she wants. She’s 5. That’s the max I can handle. Don’t know what I’ll do when the other kid starts (I have time thank goodness).
