A Christmas for 5
This was a year for a lot of fun at Christmas. We have a 3 year old that LOVES playing. Not that he didn’t before but something was different this time. We wanted to buy him ALL THE THINGS but we obviously didn’t. We had to stop ourselves on multiple occasions. We can’t have big things because of space so Santa happily brought trains, big boy Legos, Dinosaur Train figurines and stickers while Mom and Dad gave him some games (memory and Uno Moo), books and a Magna Doodle. He was over the moon. By far the favorites are the Dinosaur Train figures and the “map” (brochure) that comes with it. He now wants to look at all the dinosaurs and make every one pick.
Ollie also enjoyed his first Christmas with some BabyLegs, finger puppets and a teether from Santa. Big brother got him an elephant toy that he specifically picked out. Mom and dad got him more Baby Legs and a ball. Nothing fancy. He seemed to love it all…especially his brother.
Mom and dad had a Christmas of random stuff. I got a new thing to hang on the wall for necklaces, a twitter handle necklace, a new Narwhal hoodie, wine bottle candles, a bottle to infuse my water, LISA FRANK STICKERS AND PENCILS, a craft book and stocking goodies. Kevin got 3 new coffee mugs from me and the boys, some new t-shirts, whiskey and Mater monster trucks :). We are just happier to buy the boys stuff…I think Kevin is more excited about the Legos at the moment. Jack enjoyed a brand new cow bone to gnaw on once there isn’t a monsoon outside.
Overall it was a pretty low key Christmas. We spent Christmas eve at home just playing and relaxing and headed to Kevin’s parents for a simple lunch on Christmas day. They hit the nail on the head with the boys. Landon got a complete doctors kit complete with lab coat and some other stocking goodies but the major toys were just from the attic. He is finally the age to enjoy a lot of Kevin’s old toys. Boxes of matchbox cars, micromachines, Thunder Cats and even some of old McDonald’s happy meal toys. Easy peasy. They stay at Grandma’s and not take up anymore room. PERFECT. Ollie got a handcrafted wooden pull toy and some baby Chuck Taylors. He also finally got to meet his great Grandparents. He was pretty smitten with Granddaddy. It was a pretty great day.
To note I got some awesome photos of the boys as well as the family but wanted to put those in a post of their own…so stay tuned.
Sounds like a perfect Christmas! Do you know where the necklace thing came from? I need something similar, mine are a jumbled mess in my jewelry box.
Urban outfitters. I have always just used thumbtacks in a cork board on the inside of my closet. Works pretty well.
Alicia made a fancier DIY one: http://lifewithladies.com/stupid-easy-tips-for-lifestyles-unbecoming-of-a-housewife/
Super jealous of your Lisa Frank score!!
It is so swanky. Urban Outfitters outdid themselves 🙂
Buddy, Tiny, Shiny! I’m seriously such a nerd for that show. My husband & I prefer to just get stuff for our Oliver too. 🙂
