Things I Love – Toca Boca House

So I may be cheating with this but I wanted to shout my love for Toca Boca some more.  In my first review I did a love for a number of their apps.  They are constantly creating new ways to make interactive “toys” and never leave me disappointed. They recently came out with a new app that I just LOVE. It combines their amazeballs graphics and intuitive design with something we all long for:

Children doing chores

O yes. Toca House lets them simulate cleaning. The day we downloaded this, Landon played for a solid 30 minutes non-stop. He didn’t close it to watch Thomas or play anything else. It was awesome.  He still will play the longest with this app more than any other.

The main concept is there is a several story house. You see it like a dollhouse and you can pick rooms or even outside. Once you select an area, you then have a chore to do. There are up to 19 different chores to complete that are randomly selected. The main concepts utilized are:

  • Sorting – all things from fresh produce to flowers.
  • Vacuuming
  • Sweeping
  • Laundry – take and put in the machine
  • Organizing the mail
  • Washing windows
  • Mowing the lawn
  • Memory of what types of items each person prefers
  • And more!
As with all their apps, there are no in-app purchases and even more impressive, no buttons hidden around to make the kids get out of the app.  That annoys the piss out of me in games. They are also very limited on text and language. This makes it great for non-readers and even hearing impaired I would assume. The design is so intuitive, you don’t even need instructions. It is really fascinating to watch them just learn on their own.
You can get Toca House for $1.99 form the iTunes store. It is a universal app for iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone. GO NOW!

*As with all Things I Love posts, no one has paid me for my opinions or the products! I just love these products/companies on my own. I like to share my opinions for all my readers to save them some time looking up the best :)

Ah man, I was really hoping this was a local place where I could buy yummy tacos but I guess a fun game is cool too.

Darn! Wish it was for Android phones 🙁 Do you have any other good toddler app recommendations that are available on Android too? We’ve got a car trip coming up and they will come in handy I’m sure!

Thank you so much for the review!! My little man LOVES it. He’s been asking to play with the new app every chance he gets for the past two days. He says he wants to “do what the little people tell me to do on the ipad”. HA! Now if I could just get him to do what I tell him to do when we’re cleaning up our REAL house, that would be awesome.

Would love for you to do more reviews like this. I’m not good at finding cool apps like these for the kids.
